If you and your partner have found yourselves making the same Valentine’s Day plans every year, maybe it’s time to try something new. Or perhaps this is your first Valentine’s Day, and you’re not sure what to do to celebrate it with your significant other. No matter what the case is, you can’t go wrong with any of our suggestions for an incredible Valentine’s Day spent right here in Columbia, Tennessee.

Have a romantic gourmet meal at one of the incredible restaurants below, or try out a whole new activity together in Columbia to bond as a couple. Read ahead to see which of the following choices is up your alley.

Enjoy Dinner at Cork & Cow

Experience a great dinner with innovative, delicious courses at Franklin’s Cork & Cow. Try to reserve a table upstairs, where the atmosphere is a little more cozy and intimate, as the rest of the restaurant can get a bit lively. The restaurant features a few different types of dishes, but it’s mostly focused on the excellent steaks that gave Cork & Cow its incredible local reputation.

You can’t go wrong with almost anything on this top-rated menu, but some customer favorites include the ribeye and the wedge salad as an appetizer. Try the gorgonzola horseradish butter as well with any steak of your choice. Customers who are pescatarian or simply prefer a fish dish would do well to sample the crispy snapper on the menu. Top off your flavorful meal with one of the many carefully crafted cocktails. If you don’t know what to pick, try the chocolate martini.

Take a Hike in Chickasaw Trace Park

Some couples prefer a day in the great outdoors to a night out on the town. If that’s you and your significant other, skip the fancy restaurant reservations and head to Chickasaw Trace Park in Maury County instead. This 240-acre park is a haven for outdoorsy and active Columbia residents, with an abundance of biking and hiking trails throughout the property.

Walk out to enjoy a picturesque view of the Duck River, or head to the Derryberry Log Cabin to explore the rustic old log cabin originally built in 1803 by Adam Derryberry and his son. If you’re in the mood for a really active day instead, get your mountain bikes (or rent some) and hit one of the 9 miles of mountain bike trails within the park. When you’re tired, take a break and rest in one of the two pavilions in Chickasaw, or plan out a romantic picnic to enjoy a Valentine’s Day meal in nature.

Taste the Prix Fixe Menu at Square Market & Cafe

If you want to get a seat in one of the most popular Valentine’s Day spots in town, make a reservation early because the Square Market & Cafe fills up quickly thanks to its excellent service and delicious menu. Couples come here on Valentine’s Day to enjoy the special prix fixe menu the restaurant arranges to celebrate this special day. To accompany your meal, pick a bottle of wine from the restaurant’s extensive and carefully curated wine list.

Guests enjoy the charming atmosphere of Square Market, which calls to mind a cute small-town cafe thanks to its distinctive red and white awning, as well as the charming wrought iron fence that encircles it. Located close to the gorgeous old courthouse, the cafe features a cozy porch area where you can sit and enjoy people-watching in the town square.

After you’re done with your romantic meal, head next door to the Square Market Sweet Shoppe, rated one of thebest shops for desserts in Columbia, and try one of the exquisitely made chocolates and truffles the shop offers. The candies here are all homemade, and the care put into them is evident in their incredible flavor.

Visit Grinders Switch Winery

For a classy and unique experience that you’ll both love, plan a visit to Grinders Switch Winery this Valentine’s Day. This isn’t just any winery; Grinders was named one of the best vineyards in the whole South by Southern Living. However, guests love Grinders because, despite its popularity and fame, it’s still a lovingly run family operation.

Joey and Gail Chessor have been producing award-winning wines here since 2006, when they started the winery purely out of their love for winemaking. The exquisite wines you can taste here aren’t the only attraction, as the winery sits on 110 beautiful acres of woods, featuring stunning natural vistas around every corner. Venture inside the winery itself, which is set in an old converted tire shop from the 1950s, to taste wine by the glass, sample the various charcuterie boards, and relax in the ultra-comfortable surroundings of this quirky winery.

Make sure to head over there during the day, both to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings in the daylight and because the winery closes in the evenings. If you want, you can also check out one of the other wineries and breweries in the Columbia area.

On Valentine’s Day itself, Grinders hosts a wine and cheese pairing night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with seating every hour on the hour. You’ll get to taste a selection of six cheeses, nuts, fruits, and chocolate, paired with six different complementary wine samples. Because the experience only lasts an hour, you can pair it with a romantic dinner in Columbia before or after your visit here.

Treat your significant other to a special experience this Valentine’s Day, whether they’re an avid outdoors lover, a gourmet foodie, or a wine aficionado. The above Columbia activities offer unique romantic experiences, with many of them hosting special events for Valentine’s Day that you can enjoy as a couple to create beautiful new memories together.
