New Technology in the 2023 Tahoe

2023 Chevrolet Tahoe
There are several changes to the Tahoe’s 2023 model that set it apart from its fifth-generation predecessors. These include new exterior colors, an optional black front grille that replaces the Chevy logo with a sleek Chevrolet nameplate, and the Performance Edition package for the RST trim for added power. Another noteworthy change is the addition of the Advanced Technology Package.
The Advanced Technology Package is exclusive to the higher-end trims of the 2023 Tahoe, specifically Premier and High Country. It adds features that Chevrolet have designed to improve the vehicle’s safety and enhance the driving experience. It includes the following:
- Super Cruise: This hands-free driving assistance feature uses advanced sensors, cameras, and GPS mapping to allow you to take your hands off the wheel on certain highways. Super Cruise operates by maintaining the vehicle’s position within its lane, keeping a safe distance from other vehicles, and adjusting the speed as needed to cope with changing traffic conditions.
- Enhanced automatic parking assist: This feature makes it easier to park in tight spaces. The system uses sensors and cameras to detect obstacles and guide the vehicle into a parking spot, all while assuming control of braking and steering.
- Reverse automatic braking: This feature helps prevent accidents and mitigates their impact when backing up by sending alerts and automatically applying the brakes if it detects an obstacle behind the vehicle. It works in conjunction with the rearview camera and sensors to provide an extra layer of safety.
- Enhanced Display and Alert package: This includes a head-up display, rear camera mirror, HD Surround Vision, and rear pedestrian alert. The system provides real-time information on the vehicle’s performance, as well as alerts for potential hazards on the road.
- Adaptive cruise control: This makes use of radar sensors and a front-facing camera to monitor the distance between the vehicle and the one in front of it. It automatically adjusts the speed to maintain a safe distance between the two, reducing the risk of a collision.
- Enhanced automatic emergency braking: Together with the forward collision alert system, this feature helps avoid or mitigate the severity of frontal collisions. By constantly monitoring the road ahead and detecting potential obstacles, it warns the driver if a collision is imminent and autonomously applies the brakes if necessary.
More About Super Cruise
Super Cruise is the heart of the Advanced Technology Package for the Tahoe. Chevrolet introduced it in 2017, and it allows for hands-free driving on compatible roads across the country. It’s available on Super Cruise-enabled Chevy vehicles with forward collision alert and adaptive cruise control, as well as an active Connected Services Plan. Here’s a quick look at what Super Cruise can do:
- Lane centering: Helps keep the vehicle centered in the lane.
- Lane change on demand: Changes lanes when the turn signal is activated.
- Automatic lane change: Changes lanes automatically to pass slower-moving vehicles and returns to the original lane when clear.
- Super Cruise trailering: Makes adjustments to accommodate for trailer towing while maintaining lane position and safe following distances.
- Adaptive cruise control: Maintains a set speed and automatically adjusts to traffic conditions.
Advanced Technology Package: Premier vs. High Country
The Advanced Technology Package has fewer features for High Country compared to Premier, and these only include Super Cruise, enhanced automatic parking assist, and reverse automatic braking. So you’re still getting a comprehensive suite of advanced technologies with a Tahoe High Country. It’s worth noting that this top-tier trim already comes standard with most of the other features that are part of the package.
Another difference is the price of the package. Adding it to a Tahoe Premier will set you back by $4,825 while doing so for a High Country model will only cost you $2,700. These prices are regardless of the engine and drive system you choose for either trim. If you’re in the Columbia, Tennessee, area, visit our dealership so you can personally compare the two trims.
Tech Comparison: 2022 vs. 2023 Tahoe
The most significant difference between the 2022 and 2023 models when it comes to technology is the availability of Super Cruise. The 2022 Tahoe doesn’t offer this feature at all. 2023 is the first year that Chevrolet’s offering Super Cruise on its full-size SUVs, namely the Tahoe and Suburban. It marks a significant milestone in the automaker’s plan to make this feature available on more of its vehicles.
There’s also no dedicated technology package available for the 2022 Tahoe. However, you can still get it with many of the features included in the 2023 model’s Advanced Technology package, provided you choose either the Premier or High Country trim. These features include reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic emergency braking. You can also add the Enhanced Display and Alert package to the Premier model. Like Super Cruise, enhanced automatic parking assist isn’t available on the 2022 Tahoe.
Requirements for the Tech Package
There are several conditions that you’re required to meet to equip your 2023 Tahoe with the Advanced Technology Package. You need to choose the Premier, with a starting MSRP of $69,495, or the High Country trim, which starts at $74,795. These are the other requirements:
- 6.2L V8 or 3.0L Duramax diesel engine.
- Max Trailering Package.
- Rear-Seat Media System.
The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe offers an impressive array of advanced technology features, with the Advanced Technology Package being the highlight of the higher trims. With its wide range of safety and convenience features, this package further elevates the driving experience and levels of protection for drivers and passengers alike.
