The All New Chevrolet Equinox EV Is Coming Fall of 2023
On top of the Silverado EV and the upcoming Blazer EV, the debuting of the Chevy Equinox EV will elevate a well-loved SUV model to new heights in efficiency and power. So far, the new Ultium electric car battery platform and other leaked photos and concept videos point to an advanced, customizable, and fun evolution to the standard Equinox. The model is set to come out in the Fall of 2023 as a 2024 model year. Read on to find out more about Chevrolet’s Equinox EV and why you won’t want to miss it.
2023 Equinox EV Basics

General Motors Chair and CEO Mary Barra confirmed during her 2022 CES keynote address that Chevrolet will launch the Chevrolet Equinox EV
On January 5th, 2022, Chevy announced an upcoming version of the Equinox that will be a separate, all-electric model. Called the Equinox EV, the new model will be in line with other Chevy electric vehicles and have an estimated MSRP of $30,000. The SUV will be available in both retail and business fleet versions and in common Equinox trim levels, such as LT and RS.
Steve Hill, Chevrolet’s vice president, noted that the Equinox has always had an important role as the brand’s second-highest selling model. Providing an affordable EV option in high-volume segments is part of Chevy’s goal of making electric transportation an option for everyone.
As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, two more electric SUV models will be released under Chevy by General Motors. Chevy announced the Equinox EV after showing the 2024 Silverado EV, and the carmaker confirmed the larger Blazer EV SUV will go on sale in the spring of 2023.
What Is the Equinox EV Ultium Battery?
Ultium is the new electric car battery platform produced by GM, and this design will carry onto all-new Chevrolet electric models. If you’ve caught a peek at the electric Silverado, you might be familiar with the GM Ultium battery technology that powers it. This is also used in the Chevy Equinox EV. If you’re wondering how a truck and a maneuverable SUV can share the same electric platform, the solution is a cutting-edge modular battery system.
Rather than focusing on just one vehicle, the Ultium platform was created with a complete automaker portfolio in mind. Without requiring a whole redesign, battery arrangements may be altered for future editions, and the batteries can be stacked both vertically and horizontally to accommodate countless vehicle layouts. Besides making a stronger vehicle, these benefits also streamline the Chevy Equinox EV’s production, which helps keep costs down for the consumer. We’re looking forward to this affordable, innovative development for the Equinox — both the upcoming Fall 2023 model and future editions.
2024 Equinox EV Appearance
Even though the full details of the debut of the Chevy Equinox EV have not yet been disclosed, we have some teaser information about how the inside and outside will look. We know there will be round, turbine-inspired air vents at each dash corner and that the floating center console has plenty of space underneath. One interesting design choice for the interior is an ambient lighting panel, which promotional videos have shown extending along the passenger side of the dash and the door panel. Chevy says the colors and light patterns can be customized.
Beneath the center console, we can expect the usual convenient controls, a cup holder, and extra storage space compartments. Finally, the large central touch screen has two flat air vents beneath. These changes are all in line with the futuristic but approachable look being used in Ultium-platform vehicles. There are distinctive aesthetic cues wherever you turn, and the luxury seats are upholstered with contemporary, comfortable materials.
As for the outside, shots indicate a narrow, linked bar of LED headlights and a diamond-texture false grille around a border of gill-like fans, creating an aesthetic that is bold while remaining true to the Equinox. Like past Equinox models, the RS trim level will likely come with sporty red accents and larger wheels. This enhanced version will also add black and red elements to the cockpit to amp up the sporty style.
2024 Equinox EV Specs
Due to the modular construction, a tremendous battery capacity of up to 200 kWh is more than possible on new Ultium Chevy EVs, and we may see ranges in the ballpark of 400 miles. The new platform will also likely have an adaptive drive control that allows you to select modes for front-, rear-, or all-wheel drive. The technology may even be able to give fully powered-up versions a 0–60 time of three seconds flat.
