Chevrolet Warranty Advantages

August 5th, 2020 by

If you plan on purchasing a Chevy vehicle, it’s important to understand your warranty offers. Chevrolet vehicles come with a wide variety of warranty options to protect your vehicle against malfunction or defects. There are also optional warranties that you can add to extend the coverage length and warranties that apply to certain aspects of your vehicle. Learn the benefits of having a Chevy warranty to help you better understand this manufacturer’s commitment to excellence.

Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty

Chevrolet offers car owners a Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty that provides your 2022 vehicle with complete protection. This warranty covers the initial three years of ownership or when the vehicle reaches 36,000 miles. This means that if you find a defect or issue on your vehicle because of materials or workmanship, you can bring it in for a repair by a Chevrolet Certified Service expert. It’s also worth noting that there’s no deductible for eligible, required repairs that fall under this warranty. The Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty is also specifically for vehicles registered in the U.S.

Not only does this warranty ensure your vehicle is in proper working order, but it also highlights Chevy’s aim to make you a satisfied customer. GMC also supports this warranty, meaning there is no third-party involvement. If you sell the vehicle, this warranty transfers over to the owner so long as the warranty still applies to the coverage timeframe.

Chevrolet Optional Extended Limited Warranty

The Chevrolet Optional Extended Limited Warranty is an optional warranty for 2018-2022 Chevy vehicles. Only available at the point of purchase, this warranty is beneficial for Chevy owners who want to extend their warranty even further. This warranty lasts five years from your purchase of the vehicle or once it reaches 60,000 miles. Like the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty, there is no deductible, and it provides the same coverage. In addition, if your vehicle needs repair, service technicians use new, re-manufactured, or refurbished car parts. If you sell your vehicle to another owner, the warranty carries over as long as it’s within the coverage timeframe. Learn more here.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

This warranty provides coverage for most of Chevrolet’s 2019-2020 vehicles. It covers these vehicles five years from their purchase date, or once the car reaches 60,000 miles. Some vehicles, such as the 2020 1500 Series Light Duty pickups with 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel Engine, can receive coverage for five years from its purchase date or when the truck reaches 100,000 miles. Some commercial fleet or government vehicles can also receive this same coverage.

This warranty is beneficial for maintaining your vehicle’s engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Essentially, it ensures your vehicle continues to perform at its optimal capacity. If you have a truck or a vehicle with a lot of horsepower, this warranty is particularly beneficial.

Emission Control System Limited Warranty

This Chevrolet warranty covers defects and the performance of your car or light-duty truck’s emission control system. It provides protection for the car’s emission system for two years from the vehicle’s purchase date or once the car reaches 24,000 miles. It’s important to note that the coverage’s timeframe under this warranty depends on your vehicle and its engine type.

For example, light-duty trucks with the 6.6L Duramax Diesel engines have coverage five years from its purchase date or once the truck reaches 50,000 miles. If you have a car or truck with a light-duty or medium-duty emission control system, this warranty covers it for its first three years or once it reaches 50,000 miles. In addition, this warranty covers the specified components of these vehicles for seven years from its purchase date or once the car reaches 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

The Emission Control System Limited Warranty is beneficial for your vehicle because it ensures the Chevy system remains in proper working order. This can help you pass smog tests in the future. For example, maintaining the performance of your vehicle’s emission system can help it perform better down the road. This is particularly beneficial if you need to pass a smog test to receive your vehicle registration renewal from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Electric and Hybrid Limited Warranty

If you have an electric or hybrid vehicle and you purchased it in the U.S., Chevy warrants some of the vehicle’s components for eight years or 100,000 miles. This warranty is in addition to the Bumper-to-Bumper coverage and applies to warrantable repairs regarding electric propulsion components of your Chevy vehicle. This warranty is beneficial for Chevy owners who face issues with their hybrid electric vehicles.

More Coverage

Along with Chevy’s warranty offerings, the manufacturer also has additional coverage opportunities for Chevy owners, such as scheduled maintenance visits. For example, some vehicles can receive a four-wheel tire rotation. In addition, 2019 and 2020 vehicles can get their first maintenance visit within the first year of ownership or once it reaches 12,000 miles. This additional coverage provides Chevy vehicles with an additional guarantee of Chevy’s commitment to providing its customers with quality automobiles.

Chevrolet also offers vehicle owners roadside assistance for purchased or leased 2019-2020 GM vehicles that are currently covered through the Powertrain Limited Warranty or Hybrid Specific Warranty. This can alleviate stress if you need emergency towing, get locked out of your vehicle, or even if you need a jumpstart because of a dead battery. This is through Chevy’s Roadside Assistance Program.

When you purchase a Chevy vehicle with a warranty, be sure to read the fine print to ensure you understand what is required to maximize your coverage. This is important to give you the right peace of mind. No matter the warranty or protection plan you select, Chevy vehicle coverage can help you feel confident that you’ve made a smart purchase from a manufacturer that devotes itself to providing quality vehicles. It also ensures your Chevy continues to operate effectively and that you’re getting the most from your ownership experience. Learn more about Chevrolet protection from Stan McNabb here.
