Cryptid Trails: The Haunted Experience at Mule Acres is a dynamic and scary adrenaline rush, perfect for thrill-seekers. The Native American folklore creature the windigo inspires this interactive haunted attraction — the windigo is a make-believe cannibalistic creature that preys on the weak and socially disconnected within a community. This immersive adventure makes for a great first-date bonding experience. And you could head out with a big group of friends for a frightfully good time.

This full walk-through attraction begins after dark and is a twisted, outdoor version of your typical haunted house. It features custom special effects, interactive sets, and realistic animatronics specifically tailored to terrify even the bravest.

Because of the scare factor, the Cryptid Trails is not recommended for those under 13 years old. Hours of operation are in October on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sundays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A general admission ticket is $25. Visitors can forego the long lines and purchase a fast-pass for $35. For dedicated fans, a VIP package is $65. This will get you one admission, a limited-edition event t-shirt, and front-of-the-line access.

Mule Acres, the venue for this spooky event, is at 2000 Donra Way, Columbia. For more information about group pricing, check out the Cryptid Trails’ website.

Tennessee Paranormal Ghost Tours and Investigations

You’ll find the offices of Tennessee Paranormal Ghost Tours and Investigations at 231 Main St., Lynchburg, Tennessee. They offer ghost walks for all ages and will even investigate to help you see the hauntings in your environment. Part entertainment and part history, this experience features historical information and explores Tennessee influences, like the famous Jack Daniels, in a new and enticing way. Participants will learn about Lynchburg’s connections to the Civil War, details about historical disasters, legends about lynchings, and facts of famous murders and feuds.

Select from tour topics such as the Jail Museum, where participants enter and are guided on a one-of-a-kind experience through Moore County Old Jail. Although the spot now serves as a museum, many locals tell of its storied past and swear to have witnessed spirits, seen apparitions, and experienced unexplained phenomena. Other tours include the NB Forest Boyhood Home, located in Chapel Hill, and Spirits and Spirits Tour. The latter is a collaborative project between Tennessee Paranormal, American Craft Distilleries of Lynchburg, and Lynchburg Winery, which offers participants the chance to pair a tour with either a beer tasting or wine tasting experience.

The typical tour of Lynchburg is offered twice daily on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tours begin at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. The events run rain or shine, so be sure to go prepared in your walking shoes and dress for the weather. We suggest you dress in layers for ideal comfort. Also, remember to pack your own flashlight for this tour.

Check out their website for booking availability, for a detailed account of individual tour prices, or to schedule a private investigation. You can also call Ronnie Headley at 205-230-3678. Tennessee Paranormal Ghost Tours and Investigations also accepts inquiries via email at [email protected].

Millers Thrillers

For an energetic and slightly less scary take on Halloween festivities, check out Millers Thrillers. This interactive experience gives guests the opportunity to go on a zombie hunt, enter the haunted woods, or see some live entertainment.

To practice your paintballing skills, grab yourself a ticket for the Zombie Hayride Reloaded. Participants can protect their community by shooting zombies. Eighteen guests are driven out by military truck into the woods where they join the battle to defeat these mythical flesh-eating monsters. Your journey ends with a live performance of zombies and trampoline artists executing a routine.

The Hillbilly Hollar is an outdoor scare-fest based on live accounts from right in Maury County. This haunted woods attraction is for the brave only. Children under 10 and those faint of heart should steer clear.

Ticket prices for the Hillbilly Hollar and Zombie Paintball Hayride are $25 each. Grab a Combo Pass for the two at $40 and save some money. For $10, participants can score 75 extra paintballs. The Entertainment Zone is $15, or you can skip the long waits with a Slash Pass for $20 per attraction.

You’ll find Millers Thrillers just five minutes west of Spring Hill, at 1431 Carters Creek Pike, Columbia, Tennessee. They’re open Fridays and Saturdays in October. Hours of operation are typically 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Though on October 16, 23, and 30, they open at 6 p.m. On those days the attractions are less spooky and become a little more tolerable for younger guests. Check the website for age requirements. Tickets are available to purchase online. Just be sure to print out your tickets for them. For more information, email [email protected].
