They charge a bit more than typical adoption centers to cover the expenses of caring for each dog, finding them a perfect home, and providing extensive medical care.

You can also see some of the dogs in person on the weekends. In particular, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Russell Rescue takes dogs to the PetSmart in Spring Hill for adoption shows.

Through Russell Rescue, you can also foster dogs in need. This takes the pressure off the shelter and provides space for another dog to come in later. It’s also an excellent way to see what it would be like to adopt one of these unique animals.

Williamson County Animal Center

If you love pets and want to turn that love into action, you can even volunteer with Williamson County. They’re always looking for more helping hands to feed, water, and play with the animals. Human interaction and socialization are essential to increase adoptability for these animals, so you’ll be doing a great deed by volunteering.

No Kill Network

Another option for finding local adoptable animals online is the website for the No Kill Network. Here you’ll find profiles for dogs, cats, and other animals that are available to rescue right here in Columbia. Each animal has its own page, which tells the story of its rescue and its history with people.
