Pie Sensations

26 Public Square, Columbia, TN 38401

The award-winning Pie Sensations shop serves a wide assortment of mouthwatering pies that will redefine the way you think about this dessert. Conveniently located in downtown Columbia, the shop welcomes visitors into a sugary sweet escape awash in cheerful pinks and greens. You’ll find more than 100 pies on the menu, making your selection the most difficult part of the visit. If you just can’t choose, go with the turtle pie, a four-time winner at the Tennessee State Fair.

Other enticing options include apple crumb, banana cream, chocolate meringue, Jack Daniel’s chocolate pecan, Mississippi mud, peanut butter silk, strawberry extreme, blackberry-peach, and dozens more. If pie isn’t your thing, you’ll also find cheesecakes, cakes, and cupcakes on the menu. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Spring and Summer hours will be expanded upon. 

Hattie Jane’s Creamery

16 Public Square, Columbia, TN 38401

Hattie Jane’s Creamery serves small-batch ice cream that’s made in-house. The creamery also makes its waffle cones, caramel sauce, and hot fudge from scratch in the shop. Sunrise Creamery a local Tennessee dairy makes the base for the dairy ice cream using milk from Tennessee cows, so you’re guaranteed a rich local flavor. Dairy-free and gluten-free options are available, as well.

The menu at Hattie Jane’s is filled with decadent and intriguing options such as cookie jar supreme with pieces of brownie, chocolate chip cookie, snickerdoodle, and rainbow cookie. The honeycomb ice cream is a fan favorite with homemade honeycomb, marshmallow fluff, and cocoa nibs. You’ll even find adult ice cream flavors for those 21 and over, including the Coffee Stout & Brownie flavor featuring a coffee milk stout from Wiseacre Brewing Company with brownie bits and vanilla ice cream.

Frequent visitors will find the offerings change regularly, particularly as the holidays roll around. You’ll crave ice cream even in cold weather with flavors like mulled wine or whiskey and eggnog ice cream. Hattie Jane’s offers apparel, too, so you can show off your love for the creamery anywhere you go. Hattie Jane’s is closed Mondays but opens at noon Tuesday through Sunday. The store typically closes at 7 p.m. but stays open till 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Sweet Bakes

1153 Trotwood Ave, Columbia, TN 38401

Sweet Bakes began with an inspiring slice of crumb cake that led the shop’s founder, Shell Snyder, to start a home-based bakery business. After her family relocated to Columbia, Shell opened the physical Sweet Bakes store with a special focus on donuts and cakes.

The menu features a variety of donuts made by hand from scratch each day. Choose from flavors such as brown butter glazed, apple fritter, strawberry, and cinnamon sugar. Other bakery treats on the menu include cinnamon rolls, cake pops, chocolate chip or sugar cookies, and coffee cake. If you have a special occasion coming up, you can order a custom cake from Sweet Bakes, as well. The bakery produces stunning creations that are as beautiful as they are delicious.

Sweet Bakes is open Tuesday through Saturday. The drive-thru operates from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Marcy Jo’s Bakery & Coffeehouse

1340 Highway 99, Lewisburg, TN 37091

Marcy and her son Mikel opened Marcy Jo’s Bakery and Coffeehouse in 2018 when the operation outgrew the kitchen in the Original Mealhouse. The quaint shop has a warm and welcoming feel with delicate details such as doily-lined shelves and wood-paneled walls. Quilt-covered tables are lined with freshly baked delights, including homemade yeast rolls, loaves of bread, and hamburger buns. 

A small menu of breakfast and lunch items is available in the bakery, but the desserts are the main draw. You’ll find a wide selection of sweet treats, including Elvis cake, strawberry cake, German chocolate cake, Coca Cola cake, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, and donuts. More than 20 flavors of specialty coffees are available to complement your dessert.

Marcy Jo’s Bakery & Coffeehouse is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

River Terrace Restaurant

1000 Riverside Dr., Columbia, TN 38401

If you’re looking for a full-service restaurant that will deliver a decadent meal and an outstanding dessert, head to River Terrace Restaurant. You’ll enjoy peaceful riverside dining in an elegant atmosphere complete with soft music and a well-stocked wine bar. Find ample options for a full meal here if you’re hungry, including ribeye, chicken piccata, lobster ravioli, and more. If you want to stick to drinks and desserts, the menu features plenty of choices. 

The dessert menu includes creme brulee cheesecake, homemade bread pudding, New York cheesecake, Key lime pie, raspberry mascarpone layer cake, bananas foster, and flourless chocolate torte. If you’re in the mood for a dessert drink, try options such as the chocolatini, jazzberry, Irish coffee, or mochalicious.

The River Terrace Restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Square Market & Cafe

36 Public Square, Columbia, TN, 38401

The Square Market & Cafe is easy to find with its red and white awning and convenient downtown location. At this friendly cafe, everyone feels like family, and you’re encouraged to sit and stay for a spell. The lunch menu has a variety of sandwiches, salads, and pastas, but you won’t want to leave without trying one of the desserts. Choose from options such as double chocolate brownie delight, Jack Daniel’s chocolate pecan pie, strawberry shortcake, and much more.

The Square Market & Cafe is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
