All-New 2023 Corvette Z06 Features, Technology And More!

April 14th, 2022 by

Welcome to the future of sports cars. Industry experts agree that the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will change the landscape, powering its way into the conversation with the premium automobiles from Italy. Chevy moved the engine behind the driver, giving it a futuristic style at first glance. However, give it a closer look, and you see a wider vehicle than the Stingray, with larger air intakes and a signature rear spoiler.

In addition, Chevy utilized a flat-plane crankshaft design seen in professional racing. As a result, the 5.5-liter V-8 engine in the Z06 makes it the most powerful production car on the planet. The Z06 still feels like a Corvette when you sit inside, keeping the best features from the Stingray. However, Chevy necessarily improved performance and handling to keep up with the additional power. Trim Levels and Pricing

2023 Corvette Z06

Chevy offers the Z06 in three trim levels, 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ. Each model has a convertible option. Pricing for the Z06 hasn’t been released yet, but it’s safe to say it will cost more than the Stingray. Chevrolet has scheduled production to begin in late 2022 and have the first cars on sale in early 2023. We can only speculate on the cost, but most industry insiders agree that the base model will price in the low $90,000 range.

What’s New?

For starters, the Z06 has a midmounted engine behind the driver. Added to that, you get futuristic style and bold features. Plus, that flat-plane engine design delivers power, performance, and a throaty growl its predecessors don’t possess. Expect a more race-inspired design than other Corvettes, which says a lot.

Performance Engineering

Chevy put that flat-plane crank 5.5-liter V-8 engine in the Z06 to make it the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production V-8. It sounds just that as it revs up to 8,600 rpm. In addition, the automaker paired this engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain puts out an impressive 670 horsepower.

This rear-wheel-drive sports car sits wider than the Stingray, and Chevy put on wider tires with a better grip and beefed up the braking system. As a result, we anticipate the Z06 to corner like it’s on rails and stop on a dime. The race-inspired chassis was designed to perform better on the track than on the street, but your pulse will pound either way.

An optional Z07 package takes the Corvette to even greater heights. The package reduces weight, adds upgraded tires and brakes, and employs more aerodynamic elements. Standard 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels come in forged aluminum. You can opt for the lighter, stronger carbon-fiber wheels to shave even more weight.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

Chevy didn’t stop pushing boundaries with the engine. Inside, the Z06 surpasses anything Chevrolet has produced to date. A unique square steering wheel and an abundance of driver-focused controls make you feel like you are in the cockpit of an airplane. Inside, you have a digital gauge cluster, head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, and wireless phone charging as standard features.

The seats feature more bolstering, and the interior microsuede accents elevate the cabin. You also have two interior option packages that rely heavily on carbon fiber materials. Trunk space should continue to allow room for luggage or two sets of golf clubs.

Technology

All your tech runs through the 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system. You have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, plus your Z06 turns into a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. You can choose between two premium audio systems from Bose in either a 10-speaker or 14-speaker setup.

Expect to see the Performance Data Recorder in the Z06, enabling you to capture video as you drive. In addition, the system has a Valet setting that records activity while your Z06 remains out of your sight.

Driver-Assist Systems

Most cars today come with a suite of driver-assist technologies. These systems use radar and optical sensors to track your vehicle’s surroundings and alert you to possible hazards. In addition, these systems can provide emergency brake support, evasive steering, and throttle adjustments in some cases.

We aren’t certain exactly which driver-assist systems will come with the new Z06. However, we anticipate the standard rear parking sensors with guideline views to assist with parking. In addition, a multi-view camera system with a bird’s-eye view should be part of the package. This system also helps you park in tight spaces, providing a top-down view of your Z06 as you maneuver.

Finally, we expect Chevy to include a blind-spot monitor with a rear cross-traffic alert standard. This system uses sensors mounted to the rear that scan to either side while in reverse. If they detect a car or pedestrian approaching, you receive an alert.

You might also find a forward-collision warning system with automatic emergency braking. Lane-keeping and side blind zone alert systems could also appear, enabling you to change lanes confidently. Of course, we couldn’t blame Chevy if they didn’t include adaptive cruise control or any other autonomous driving system. After all, you buy the Z06 to drive, not let it drive for you.

Warranty Coverages

Chevrolet continues to offer warranty coverage on all its vehicles. You’ll receive a limited warranty that lasts three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The powertrain warranty should stretch five years or 60,000 miles, and you’ll receive complimentary maintenance on your first visit.

You do have the option to purchase extended warranties. Depending on how much you plan on taking your Z06 out might determine the cost-effectiveness. For example, a weekend cruise won’t put much strain on your Z06. However, if you plan on driving all week long and hitting the track on weekends, you might want the extra protection.
